Adam Gerndt

Adam graduated with Honors in 2000 from Auburn University earning degrees in both Architecture and Building Science. Adam completed his Architecture thesis at the international acclaimed Rural Studio studying directly under the late Samuel “Sambo” Mockbee. Adam worked with several classmates to design and construct a community center commonly know as the glass chapel that received much recognition and publication from the design community including publication in Architecture Record Magazine, and was featured in a story about the Rural Studio aired on Nightline. After graduation Adam moved to California to work and study at Roto Architects under renowned architect Michael Rotondi. While there Adam worked on 2 projects that were featured in a book about Michael Rotondi’s work published in 2006. Adam returned to the south in 2002 and worked for Lord Aeck and Sargent Architects in Atlanta Georgia for several years. Adam participating in the design of several prominent institutional buildings at universities including UNC Chapel Hill, Duke University, Presbyterian College, and The College of Charleston. Adam returned home to Birmingham Alabama to work with Taylor Dawson and Associates and eventually teamed up with Tom Adams in 2006 to form Adams Gerndt Design Group. Adam volunteers with several local social and civic organizations including Northstar Youth Ministries where he has served as head coach for Northstar Soccer Club. Adam is currently in his second year as councilor on the board of the Birmingham Chapter of American Institute of Architects.
